Also, please join me for a Watercolor Batik Workshop, Saturday, Jan. 18th, 10 AM - 3 PM. (Limit 8) $125 We will paint a Lovely Batik Iris. You may choose your colors to suit your taste in art. (If 2 friends take this together, some of your supplies may be shared bringing the supply cost way down.)

Thursday Paint Group

Thursday Paint Group, taught by Barbie Mathis starts back on 01/09/25, 11AM-2PM, and meets weekly at Lexington Paint and Pour, 711 E Main St, Lexington, SC 29072 in the Old Mill. Park in the back parking lot near the pond. The fee is $35 per week.. You may bring cash, or use Venmo, Zelle or Cash App paid to me the same day. (And, I give the owner a % of pay) Please bring your own Painting Supplies, Acrylic or Watercolors, Canvas or Paper, Brushes and Photo Reference. I usually have a main focus for class, and I'll let you know the week before. You may use my photocopy if you'd like to paint along with me. Or, I will be glad to help you with your own painting. This is a great, laid-back group of people who love to paint together. Some people come weekly, and some once or twice a month. If you've never been, you're welcome to join us, even if you can only come once. :) People may bring their coffee, drinks, or snacks. There's some good eating places and a coffee spot in the Old Mill. ***Please let me know if you want to be on the list for this group. Send a message through the contact page.

Class Options:

For those of you who’d like to take Painting or Calligraphy in the comfort of your own surroundings, without the hassle of driving, hauling supplies, or waiting in crowded classes for individual instruction,

I have the Solution. I WILL COME TO YOU. ***A small fee may be added for locations more than 5 miles from my home.

Private Classes: (Ages 10 to 100, *An adult must be present for ages 10-18)

1 hour - $60, 1 + 1/2 hours- $100, 2 hours -$150

Online Classes or Critiques:

Video Chats with Students (past or present) through Facebook Messenger are Welcome – must be arranged ahead of time, and subject to my schedule

15 minutes - $10 – Critique or “How To” Questions

30 minutes - $20 – Mini Class with minimal instruction or lots of “How To” Questions

60 minutes - $30 – Online Class Session

One time Class/Parties of 7 or more start at $35 each depending on particular kind of class and if I do the purchasing of supplies. Contact me for more information.

*All Class Times are subject to availability. An initial deposit by Venmo, Zelle or Cash App will be required in advance to hold your spot.

*A small additional fee may be added for travel distance and will be discussed upon enrollment.

Supplies:

A Supply list will be provided upon sign-up. All fees above do not include supplies.

Arrangements may be made for me to purchase supplies for an additional charge.

Classes Offered:

1. Watercolor or Acrylic Painting for Beginners and Intermediates

*I paint in a realistic style mainly using photographs of natural subjects such as flowers, landscapes, animals, and some people, although I don’t teach portrait painting. Students are encouraged to use their own photos so that they may paint the subject matter that interests them. Still Life Painting, Collage, Abstract or Plein Air Painting may also be done if there is an interest. Classes will also include learning the Elements of Design and Composition including Color Mixing, Value, Creating Texture, etc… And, how and what supplies to use to get the look you want.

2. Traditional Calligraphy

A Sheaffer Calligraphy Pen or a broad nib dip pen is used to create a traditional Italic Script

3. Modern Calligraphy

A Pointed Dip Pen or a pointed round brush is used to create popular modern script in ink or watercolor.
